MSRA: Dangerous Learning
October 16, 2014 | Finz & Finz, P.C.
The whole point of a school is to be a center of learning. We send our children from kindergarten to high school with the expectation that they will receive an education. Learning is viewed as the key to getting a good job and making good money. A quality education is the basis for a successful society.
But these days, students aren’t the only ones learning at school. The deadly MRSA virus is becoming more and more commonplace in school settings, and as more and more people are exposed, the virus continues to mutate and become more difficult to treat. MRSA is learning in our schools, and it is learning how to become even more dangerous.
Sending our children off to school was already a frightening proposition, because of issues like bullying and school violence. MRSA has added yet another chilling possibility to this list. At first it was rare to find the virus in schools, but it seems that each day there is a new report of exposure. Recent incidents include:
- Student exposure in Saginaw, Michigan
- Three cases in a single small school district in Pennsylvania
- Multiple cases at an Albuquerque high school
- A rash of cases in North Carolina schools
MRSA exposure is becoming more and more widespread, even as the virus continues to evolve. It is of critical importance that these outbreaks be contained as quickly as possible, but oftentimes schools, businesses, and other public venues don’t want to admit there is a problem until multiple people have become sick. By trying to evade responsibility they are putting hundreds of additional people at risk.
If you or a loved one has contracted MRSA, it can be overwhelming to begin the process of discovering just where you were exposed. The illness is devastating and time-consuming, and you need help getting the answers you need while you are fighting the disease. Your best bet is to contact a lawyer as soon as you can to start getting the answers that are key to your successful treatment and key to preventing others from becoming infected.
