Any Celebration Can Cause an Accident

New Year’s Eve is not the only night that proves festive. The new year itself brings about a whole new round of birthdays, city celebrations, graduations and more. Celebrations can be the scene for many mishaps ranging from drunk driving, to electrocutions, to slips and falls and much more, no matter what the occasion. As we ease into the first quarter of the new year, it is our goal to end the year on a positive note.

Celebrations of all kinds will continue to occur as milestone birthdays are reached, children graduate, employees are promoted, and city celebrations mark special anniversaries. Here are some steps you can take to ensure that any celebration of which you are a part keeps you injury free from start to finish:

  • Plan a party inside your own home .This keeps you off the roads where many potential dangers can occur.
  • Serve and drink plenty of non-alcoholic beverages. Be sure you have choices available for you and your guests.
  • Avoid driving if you know the roads will be crowded with partiers, and plan for someone to drive you to and from your destination if you have been drinking. Choose someone who has designated himself or herself a designated driver so you do not have to worry.
  • Wear proper attire for walking and weather. Many festivities are held at locations where you need to park and walk to the main venue. These venues and cities may have traffic that is heavier than normal, snow and ice that you have to maneuver, and other strange conditions. Dress warmly, appropriately and wear the proper shoes, even if it compromises your outfit.

Celebrations and parties will never become a thing of the past, but injuries and accidents can slowly become a thing of the past if we all take proper precautions to be safe this year. If you have been injured, or know someone who has been injured, as a result of a celebration or activity, seeking the proper counsel will be the best way to start off your new year the right way.
