Woman facing charges over crash that killed moped rider in the Bronx

BRONX, NY – A woman was arrested following following a collision that killed a moped rider in the South Bronx on Saturday afternoon, according to a WCBS report.

Police were called to the scene in the vicinity of Intervale Avenue and Fox Street in the Longwood neighborhood after the incident took place at about 2:30 p.m.

Investigators determined the crash resulted from a road rage dispute between the drivers of a car and a moped.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a Honda Civic intentionally drove the wrong way on Fox Street at a high rate of speed and collided with the moped rider.  The rider, identified as 23-year-old Robert Jimenez of the Bronx, was pronounced dead after being taken to Lincoln Hospital.

The driver of the  Honda, a 28-year-old woman, remained at the scene before being hospitalized with minor injuries.

The driver was later taken into custody and charged with murder and manslaughter.
