Woman dead, 2 brothers injured after car hits joggers on Long Island street

COMMACK, LONG ISLAND – Three people jogging on Long Island Thursday morning were struck by a vehicle, leaving one dead and two others injured.

According to WPIX, the incident happened while the group was on the northbound shoulder of Harned Road near Donna Court in Commack at about 8:20 a.m.

Suffolk County Police say the three were hit by a 2022 Chrysler Voyager.   One of the victims, 22-year-old Ilona Kaydanov of Commack, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

Her two brothers, 20-year-old Dennis Kaydanov and a 13-year-old, were transported to Good Samaritan University in West Islip with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The driver, identified as 44-year-old Francis Floyd of Bay Shore, stayed at the scene.  Floyd and her two passengers, a 64-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, were not injured in the incident.

No charges were immediately filed as the police investigation continues.  The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
