Teenager killed, 5 others injured in collision at intersection in Suffolk County

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, LONG ISLAND – Police in Suffolk County said a teenager was killed when two vehicles collided at an intersection on Saturday night.

According to a report by WPIX, the incident took place in the vicinity of Nesconset Highway and Woodhull Avenue in Port Jefferson Station.  A police investigation determined that a 18-year-old male driving a 2019 Honda Accord was headed east on Nesconset Highway and tried to make a left hand turn onto Woodhull Avenue.  The Accord was then struck by a 2022 Ford Bronco traveling westbound.

A back seat passenger in the Honda was pronounced dead after being taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.  He was a 16-year-old boy from Medford.

Five other people were hospitalized due to the wreck.  They were the driver of the Honda and three teenager passengers along with the 19-year-old driver of the Ford.  None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Anyone with further information regarding the accident was asked to contact the Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad.
