BOROUGH PARK, BROOKLYN – A car accident in Brooklyn Wednesday evening claimed the life of a pedestrian, WINS reported.

The crash happened in the area of 50th Street and 13th Avenue in the Borough Park section of the borough.  According to police, the driver of a Toyota Sienna minivan was going east on 50th Street at about 7:10 p.m. when the vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a Honda Odyssey.  The impact caused the Sienna to spin out of control and jump onto a sidewalk.

The Sienna hit a man who had just reached the corner and was standing on the sidewalk. The victim, who was identified as 23-year-old Chaim Blum, was pronounced dead after being taken to Maimonides Medical Center.  The accident happened about a half mile from where Blum lived.

The two drivers involved were not injured.  Both are 27-year-old men.  The NYPD is continuing its investigation into the incident, and so far there have been no arrests.
