NASSAU COUNTY, NY – Nassau County Police are investigating two separate car accidents that left two people dead and three others critically injured last week, reports the Long Island Press.

Both of the wrecks took place on Peninsula Boulevard Sept. 17.  In the first incident, a 20-year-old man was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima southbound at about 4 a.m. when he lost control of the car and crashed into several trees.

One of the passengers, a 20-year-old woman, died at the scene.  Another passenger, a 32-year-old woman, and the driver were listed in critical condition after being rushed to an area hospital.

The second accident occurred on Peninsula Boulevard near the Southern State Parkway at about 10:35 p.m.  Investigators said a 24-year-old man was driving a 2006 Mini Cooper, lost control of the vehicle, and collided with a tree.  A passenger, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver was hospitalized in critical condition.
