LAURENTON, QUEENS – Two people were killed after their car was involved in a collision in Queens early Saturday morning, according to a report in the New York Post.

The accident occurred on the Belt Parkway near Springfield Boulevard in the Laurelton section of the borough.  New York City police said the driver of a Dodge Challenger was going west on the Belt Parkway at 3:47 a.m. when the car sideswiped the driver’s side of a Mazda CX-5.  The impact caused the Dodge to go out of control and off the roadway where it collided with a tree, resulting in the car being split in half.

Both occupants of the Dodge were ejected from the vehicle.  A 29-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver, a 35-year-old man, died after being transported to Jamaica Hospital.  The identities of the two victims were not immediately released.  The Mazda driver, a 32-year-old woman, was not injured and remained at the scene.
