HOLBROOK, LONG ISLAND – Police have announced an arrest in connection with a deadly crash on Long Island earlier this month, according to longisland.com.
Seven cars were involved in the wreck on SunriseHighway near Lincoln Avenue in Holbrook on March 4 at about 4:35 a.m.
One of the motorists, driving a 2002 Toyota Celica, died after being taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue. He was identified as 22-year-old Kelvin Saula-Bueno of Bay Shore. Three of the other drivers sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, and were transported to area hospitals. No passengers were in any of the vehicles.
A man driving one of the cars involved, a 2012 Mazda, fled the scene on foot. Suffolk County Police detectives said their investigation determined that the driver being sought was 29-year-old Christopher Macri of Copiague and that he was driving a stolen vehicle.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an incident with a fatality. Police said Macri is also facing charges related to the theft of the vehicle in Copiague on March 7.
