OLD BROOKVILLE, LONG ISLAND – One teenager died and three others were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Long Island early Sunday morning, according to Newsday.

Nassau County Police responded to the scene on Chicken Valley Road near Brookville Lane in Old Brookville after the incident took place at about 3:37 a.m. Investigators determined that a 16-year-old girl was driving a 2008 Nissan westbound and lost control of the car, which crashed into a tree.

The driver, a student at an area high school, was pronounced dead at the scene.  A 16-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car was hospitalized in critical condition.  Two other male passengers, ages 14 and 15, were taken to the hospital and were listed in stable condition.

Grief counselors were sent to the schools attended by the victims to provide support to other students during the week.
