HARRISON, WESTCHESTER COUNTY – New York State Police said a tractor-trailer driver died following an accident in Westchester County last week.

In a news release, police identified the victim as 42-year-old Nathan L. Montalvo of Guilford, Connecticut.

Investigators said Montalvo was driving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 287 in the town of Harrison on Wednesday when the crash took place at about 10:20 a.m.   Montalvo lost control of the vehicle while on the Exit 9A ramp from I-287 to I-684 north.  The truck flipped over the guardrail and landed on the westbound lanes of I-287.

Montalvo suffered fatal injuries, while the driver of a vehicle on I-287 was injured.  That driver, 37-year-old Aris Guerrero was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

All westbound lanes of I-287 were shut down at Exit 9, and the left lane was closed eastbound as drivers were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

State police are continuing to investigate the cause of the wreck and asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
