Driver killed in collision with pickup truck at intersection in Queens

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, QUEENS – A two-vehicle collision in Queens Monday night left one driver dead and another hospitalized, according to a report by amNewYork.

The accident happened in the Springfield Gardens section of the borough, at the intersection of Guy Brewer Boulevard and South Conduit Avenue.

Investigators with the NYPD determined that a 30-year-old man was driving a 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck north on Guy Brewer Boulevard at about 8:15 p.m. when he crashed into a 2002 Chevy Impala at South Conduit Avenue.  The Daily News reported that the driver of the Dodge went through a red light.

The driver of the Chevy was transported to Jamaica Hospital and was pronounced dead.  He was identified as 71-year-old Fitz H. Slowe.  The driver of the pickup was taken to the same hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the NYPD.
