WESTCHESTER VILLAGE, BRONX – Eight pedestrians were struck and injured in an accident involving two vehicles on a street in the Bronx Sunday morning, according to WCBS.

Police responded to the incident at the intersection of Gleason Avenue and Commerce Avenue in Westchester Avenue at about 7:15 a.m.

An investigation indicated that the driver of a white BMW was doing donuts in the street when the vehicle was hit from behind by a Jeep.  The pedestrians were struck when the two vehicles collided.  The pedestrians and the driver of the BMW all sustained minor injuries, and were transported to Jacobi Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Jeep left the scene after the crash.  The vehicle, which reportedly had New Jersey license plates, was later found unoccupied in Jersey City.  So far there have been no arrests as the NYPD continues its investigation into the crash.

Anyone with further information about what happened was asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
