6 injured in Brooklyn crash involving wrong-way driver

EAST FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN – A suspected drunk driver was arrested in connection with a car wreck that occurred in Brooklyn on Saturday night, according to a report by WINS.

New York police were called to the scene after the incident that took place on East 94th Street in East Flatbush at about 10 p.m.

Investigators said a man was driving north in the southbound lane of the street.  He ended up striking multiple cars along with pedestrians.  Six people were taken to Kings County Hospital with what were reported as minor injuries.

The driver, identified as 47-year-old Ryan Austin, was taken into custody after his vehicle stopped in the area of East 94th Street and Winthrop Street.   Police said he smelled of alcohol but refused to take a breathalyzer tiest.

Austin is facing multiple charges, including reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and driving without a license.

WABC reported that Austin has a Georgia address but it had yet to be determined why he was in Brooklyn.
