SOUTH OZONE PARK, QUEENS – Two people were killed when their car was involved in a crash in Queens late Sunday night, according to a report by WNBC.

Police and emergency crews responded to the scene on the Belt Parkway near 150th Street in the South Ozone Park section of the borough.

The NYPD said the driver of a BMW sedan was speeding on the Belt Parkway at about 10:45 p.m. and was unable to negotiate a turn.  The driver lost control and the vehicle struck a divider.

One passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.  Another passenger, a male in his late teens or early 20s, died at the scene.

The 19-year-old driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The wreck shut down the eastbound lanes of the Belt Parkway for over six hours while investigators worked the scene.  It was believed that speed was a contributing factor in the accident.
