2 injured when speeding car slams into 2 homes in Oceanside, Long Island

OCEANSIDE, LONG ISLAND – A driver and his passenger were injured when their car slammed into two homes on Long Island Wednesday night, according to WCBS.

The accident took place on Harvey Avenue in the Nassau County town of Oceanside.  Police said a 45-year-old man driving a Mercedes Benz at about 10:15 p.m. lost control of the vehicle.  The Mercedes collided with a utility pole, struck the two houses and a car parked in a driveway before overturning.

The driver and his passenger, a 37-year-old woman, were extricated after being pinned inside the car and were transported to an area hospital.  The severity of their injuries was not disclosed.  No one was injured inside the homes that were hit but the houses both sustained significant damage.

The accident also damaged gas and utility lines, knocking out power to about a dozen homes in the  neighborhood.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
