NYC man fatally struck by SUV near Long Island intersection

NESCONSET, LONG ISLAND – Police on Long Island have released details regarding a fatal pedestrian accident that took place last week, according to a report by the Daily Voice.

Authorities responded to the scene Feb. 2 on Nesconset Highway near the intersection with Terry Road in Nesconset, Suffolk County.

According to Suffolk County Police, the driver of a 2005 Honda CR-V was traveling east on Nesconset Highway at about 9 p.m. when her vehicle collided with a pedestrian who was in the roadway.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant with the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office.  The victim was identified as 31-year-old Gustavo Carino, a resident of the Washington Heights section of Manhattan.

The driver of the Honda, a 27-year-old woman from Nesconset, was not injured in the incident.

Her vehicle was impounded for a safety check as part of the investigation.  Anyone with further information about what happened was asked to contact detectives with the Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad.
