Driver sought following fatal multi-car accident on Sunrise Highway

HOLBROOK, LONG ISLAND – Police said they are searching for one of the drivers involved in a fatal multi-vehicle accident on Long Island,  reports WNBC.

Seven vehicles were involved in the wreck that occurred on Sunrise Highway in Holbrook early Saturday morning.  Police responded to the scene of the pileup between Broadway Avenue and Lincoln Avenue at about 4:30 a.m.

One driver who had been behind the wheel of a Toyota Celica was pronounced dead after being rushed to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue.  He was identified as 22-year-old Saula-Bueno Kelvin of Bay Shore.

Three other drivers were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.  Two drivers were not injured.  Police said one of the drivers involved, of a 2012 Mazda, fled the crash scene on foot and is still being sought.  There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.

Sunrise Highway was shut down for the crash investigation, which is ongoing.  Anyone with further information was asked to contact Suffolk County Police or Suffolk County Crime Stoppers.
