FARMINGVILLE, LONG ISLAND – Police on Long Island are trying to track down the driver who struck and killed two pedestrians on Friday night, according to Sachem Patch.
The incident took place in front of a shopping center on Horseblock Road near Abner Drive in Farmingville. The pedestrians were walking across the roadway at about 11:20 p.m. when they were struck by a vehicle. One of the victims, 27-year-old Ekrem Sahinbey Polat of Middle Island, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other pedestrian, 38-year-old Battal Koc of Bay Shore, died after being transported to Stony Brook University Hospital.
The driver involved took off and left the scene heading northwest on Horseblock Road, Suffolk County Police said.
The vehicle involved has been described as a light-colored SUV. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the driver or the vehicle was asked to contact the Major Case Unit of the Suffolk County Police or Crime Stoppers.
