BROOKLYN, NY – A truck accident in Brooklyn early Wednesday morning caused major traffic delays for rush hour drivers and left four people injured, according to WABC.
The crash happened along the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, where two tractor-trailers going westbound collided near Tillary Street at about 4:50 a.m.
The impact caused one of the trucks to overturn and dump mounds of debris across the highway. An overhead road sign was also knocked down. Two other vehicles were involved in the wreck, police said.
The southbound side of the BQE was shut down at exit 29 for hours and only one northbound lane was open. As a result, traffic was snarled on the BQE, the Long Island Expressway and the Gowanus Expressway for much of the morning. City sanitation department crews were dispatched to clear the debris, reported to be scrap metal.
Four people were injured in the crash and transported to area hospitals, where they were listed in stable condition.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
