Manhattan Attorney Gives Advice for Fireworks Use

The dangers of fireworks are finally making national news, but only because this year multiple famous athletes suffered serious, potentially career-ending injuries. Jason Pierre-Paul of the New York Giants lost at least one finger, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cornerback C.J. Wilson lost two fingers and has already announced his retirement.

Though these two cases got most of the news coverage, they were nowhere near the worst incidents that occurred around the 4th of July. Other terrible accidents include:

• A Florida teenager who lost his hand
• A Utah incident that left a child and a firefighter injured
• An incident with multiple injuries at a fireworks show in Colorado

As the range of different circumstances leading to these accidents indicate, fireworks are dangerous in almost all settings, from an individual lighting their own to large scale shows that are hosted by various cities around the country.
