We were honored to have our firm highlighted in a story recently published on LongIsland.com.
Writer Chris Boyle spoke to our own Brandon S. Finz, associate attorney and proud descendant of the firm’s founders: father Stuart L. Finz, senior trial attorney and CEO; and grandfather Hon. Leonard L. Finz, former New York Supreme Court Justice.
Brandon S. Finz Interviewed for Heartfelt Article About Family-Run Firm
Brandon gave a heartfelt explanation to LongIsland.com about how our family-run firm is driven by a strong desire to help others.
“This is a family firm, founded by my father and grandfather, and my mom and sister are accomplished attorneys here as well,” Brandon said. “So, as a family firm, we try to look at every client who comes in the door as part of our extended family, and we really try to bring them in and put ourselves in their shoes. In doing so, we’re often able to form close, everlasting bonds.”
Brandon shared some details of cases he’s worked on that affected him personally, including the story of a family reeling from the sudden loss of a father after a truck accident near a construction site. The father, a young man, was making a delivery to a construction site in Brooklyn. He was hit and killed by a tractor trailer when exiting the vehicle.
The distraught family came to Finz & Finz, P.C for help. In the years he spent investigating the case, Brandon and his team learned that the construction company the man was delivering to had inadequate safety procedures for accepting deliveries. They also learned that the street he was on was not as wide as it should have been. This meant the construction company, the trucking company, and the city could all be held liable for the young father’s untimely passing.
All three parties were all found to be at fault. The result? The family’s financial future was secured, and they found some peace and closure knowing justice was served.
“Nothing will ever bring back the loss of a husband or a father, but at least he can look down and know that his family no longer has to worry about putting food on the table, that his child has a bond set up for college, and that their financial future is secure,” Brandon said. “Things like that, those are the kind of cases that leave a mark. It’s why we do what we do each and every day, and I take a great deal of pride in that.”
The article goes further in-depth about the firm’s detail-oriented approach to resolving cases, why they choose to help clients other firms turn away, and how he finds satisfaction helping people find light during some of the darkest times of their lives.
