WEST HEMPSTEAD, LONG ISLAND – A suspected drunk driver is facing charges stemming from a car accident on Long Island on Monday afternoon, according to a report by WPIX.
The incident took place along Eagle Avenue in West Hempstead, Nassau County. Nassau County police said 37-year-old David Isaacs was driving a 2017 BMW at about 3:52 p.m. when his vehicle struck a parked Honda Pilot and overturned.
Isaacs was in the car along with his 7-year-old son, who was riding in the back seat. Authorities said both of them managed to escape from the car after it flipped over. The boy was injured and transported to an area hospital. He was subsequently released into the custody of a family member.
Isaacs, a West Hempstead resident, was arrested following a police investigation. He faces several charges, including driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law), and endangering the welfare of a child.
Isaacs was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead.
