GREENWICH VILLAGE, MANHATTAN – A woman died after she was struck by a vehicle last week on a street near her home in Manhattan, the Daily News reports.

The victim was identified as 76-year-old Lori Kleinman.  The NYPD said she was crossing the street near Greenwich Avenue and West 10th Street, just steps from her Greenwich Village apartment building, on Oct. 3 at around 6:45 p.m.

Kleinman was struck at that location by a 56-year-old woman driving a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban who was making a left turn onto Greenwich Avenue.

FDNY and EMS crews rushed to the aid of the woman, who had been knocked to the pavement.  Kleinman was transported by ambulance to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead the following day.

The driver of the Chevy was not injured and stayed at the scene, where she was interviewed by police investigators.  No arrests have been made in the case but the NYPD is continuing to investigate the collision.
