MANHATTAN, NEW YORK – Eight people were injured in an accident involving an MTA bus in New York City Monday night, the New York Post reports.
Police and first responders were dispatched to the scene in the area of Madison Avenue and East 48th Street in Manhattan after the incident happened at about 8:30 p.m.
Authorities said a BxM6 express bus headed for the Bronx was traveling north on Madison Avenue in the vicinity of a construction zone. The bus collided with a bucket truck in a construction vehicle that was parked on the street in the adjacent lane.
Three windows on the bus were shattered by the impact. Eight people, including the bus driver and passengers and the operator of the construction lift, were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue with minor injuries.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash but said that no criminality was suspected.
Madison Avenue was shut down between 47th and 48th Streets before reopening shortly before 11 p.m.
