HOLBROOK, LONG ISLAND – Police on Long Island said a collision involving a sport utility vehicle and a motorcycle last week left three people dead.
WPIX reports the incident happened Wednesday afternoon in Holbrook, in Suffolk County. According to police, the driver of an SUV was headed west on Veterans Memorial Highway when he attempted to turn left onto southbound Coates Avenue at about 1:20 p.m.
The vehicle crashed into a 2002 Honda motorcycle going east on Veterans Memorial Highway. The driver of the SUV, identified as 74-year-old Emanuel Dandrea of Shoreham, and the operator of the motorcycle, 27-year-old Alaaeldien Elfaham of Deer Park, were pronounced dead at the scene. An 11-year-old girl who was a passenger in the SUV died after being taken to Stony Brook University Hospital. Another passenger in the vehicle, an 8-year-old girl, was transported to the same hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Anyone with further information on the accident was asked to contact Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives.
