Stuart Finz Named as New York Super Lawyers Honoree 9th Year in a Row

Super Lawyers is an organization that rates lawyers to determine which lawyers are considered to be outstanding in their practice areas. This is accomplished by selecting only those lawyers that have attained the highest-degree of peer recognition for professional achievement. Through the selection process only the top 5% of lawyers in each state are named as Super Lawyers. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.

Mr. Finz was first selected by New York Super Lawyers in 2007 after winning an eight week trial in Manhattan against the tobacco giants Phillip Morris and RJR in the sum of $20.5 Million; a $1.5 Million verdict for a delivery man who sustained a fractured leg; and a $5.2 Million verdict against a chemical company. Each year thereafter Mr. Finz has scored record verdicts and settlements for his law firm’s clients.

Mr. Finz started 2015 with a hard fought victory for a truck driver that sustained fractures when another truck rolled into him while waiting to dump a load of scrap metal in an upstate New York recycling site. The case settled for $2.2 Million.

Then in April 2015 Mr. Finz tried a case to verdict in Manhattan for a client whose hand was caught in a building trash compactor while performing his duties as the building porter. The accident resulted in a near complete amputation of the porter’s right dominant hand that was surgically reattached at Bellevue hospital. The defense refused to make a significant offer to settle the case claiming that the plaintiff caused his own accident by attempting to improperly clear a jam by placing his hand in the machine while it was running. After a six week trial, the New York County jury returned a unanimous verdict for the porter in the total sum of $14.8 Million. With interest and 50B the value of the verdict now exceeds $16 Million.

Following that win, Mr. Finz, continued litigating against top law firms in a tragic case involving the death of a farm worker in Suffolk County who was run over by a tractor. With the trial date approaching, Mr. Finz geared up for trial and after several court conferences the case was settled for $3.2 Million.
