One of our cases landed in the Top 10, another in the Top 20, and four more were named among the Top 50. The results were compiled by TopVerdict, which recognizes US firms and attorneys who have obtained the highest jury verdicts, settlements, and bench awards in the nation or particular state in a particular area of law in a given year.

Top 10 Largest Settlement

Our firm’s Stuart L. Finz, CaraMia R. Hart, and Brandon S. Finz obtained one of the top 10 New York personal injury settlements of 2023. The case, Estate of Patient v. Hospital EMS, involved many areas of liability, including:

Top 20 Largest Settlement

We also recovered one of the top 20 largest personal injury verdicts and settlements in New York in 2023. The case, filed against a municipality and a vehicle driver, was settled by Stuart L. Finz, Todd M. Rubin, and Brandon S. Finz in the amount of $4,125,000. This was a pedestrian car accident case that involved government road design negligence, dangerous conditions, a brain injury, and bone fractures. It was the 15th-highest personal injury settlement in New York last year.

Top 50 Largest Settlements

We are honored that four of our cases were named among the Top 50 New York personal injury settlements of 2023.

#25: Estate of Pedestrian v. Trucking Co., et al

This case, handled by Stuart L. Finz and Todd M. Rubin, resulted in a $2,585,000 settlement. This wrongful death case involved a pedestrian vs truck accident at a landfill, government negligence, premises liability, and an occupational injury.

#28: Estate of Pedestrian v. Bus Co.

Stuart L. Finz and Brandon S. Finz worked together on this school bus pedestrian accident case, which involved bodily injury and wrongful death for a child crossing the street while trying to get onto his school bus. It resulted in a $2,250,000 settlement.

#30: Estate of Plaintiff v. Building Owner

This wrongful death burn injury case included claims of dangerous conditions, failure to maintain, and premises liability in a fire accident in New York City. Stuart L. Finz and Todd M. Rubin successfully resolved the case with a $2 million settlement.

#38: Estate of Patient v. Doctor, et al.

Stuart L. Finz and CaraMia R. Hart worked together on this case, which resulted in a $1,450,000 settlement for our client. This medical malpractice case involved delayed treatment, failure to treat, medication error, inadequate care, erroneous treatment, and wrongful death.
