What is the LIBC (Long Island Bike Challenge)?

Since its inception in 2012, the LIBC has raised over $460,000 to support the lifesaving work conducted by the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research at the Northwell Health System. This event is a powerful symbol of hope and solidarity, as participants pedal across Long Island to contribute to groundbreaking medical research.

New York State Cancer Statistics

Cancer affects the lives of far too many people throughout New York State. Each year, more than 118,000 New Yorkers receive a cancer diagnosis, and approximately 34,000 lives are lost to this disease, making it the second leading cause of death in the state. Alarmingly, New York’s overall cancer incidence rate in a recent year was the fifth-highest among 49 states and the District of Columbia. Factors such as disparities in access to healthcare services, socioeconomic backgrounds, and environmental influences contribute to these variations.

How Can You Support the LIBC?

Join the ride! When you commit to riding in the LIBC, you embrace not only the challenge and the fun of biking Long Island but also the commitment to raising funds to combat cancer. All riders are encouraged to secure tax-deductible donations from their network of supporters. You will inform your individual sponsors about the event and encourage them to contribute directly on the LIBC fundraising page.

If riding is not for you, you can still show your support by sponsoring a rider or donating via the website. Supporters can also write paper checks made out to the Long Island Bike Challenge and mail them to Long Island Bike Challenge, 1366 Odell St., Wantagh, NY 11793.
