CORONA, QUEENS – The New York Police Department said a driver was killed when his car crashed in Queens early Saturday morning.

According to a report from Queens Patch, the accident happened on the Grand Central Parkway in the Corona section of the borough.

An investigation found that the driver of a 2022 Hyundai SUV was heading east in the left lane of the parkway at about 5:20 a.m. when he swerved to avoid vehicles that had been involved in a previous crash near Exit 8.

The driver of the Hyundai changed lanes but then lost control of his vehicle, which flipped over multiple times and collided with a tree near 111th Street.

The driver was pronounced dead after being transported to New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital.  He was identified as 20-year-old Raeven Rishi of Rosedale.  A passenger who was in his vehicle was listed in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

The NYPD is continuing to investigate the wreck, adding that no other vehicles were involved.
