QUEENS VILLAGE, QUEENS – The NYPD is trying to track down two drivers who were involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Queens on Sunday night, according to a New York Post report.

The accident happened in the area of Hempstead Avenue and 223rd Street in the Queens Village area about 8 p.m.

Police said a man was walking across Hempstead Avenue near an overpass of the Cross Island Parkway when he was struck by a light-colored sedan heading west.  As he lay injured in the road he was hit again, by an eastbound light-colored SUV.  The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the crash scene by paramedics.

Both of the drivers involved left the scene without stopping to help, investigators said.

The crash remains under investigation by the NYPD Highway Patrol.  Police were searching for any surveillance footage from the area that might help them identify the cars and drivers.
