Man, woman die after car hits guide wire on Ocean Parkway in Babylon

BABYLON, LONG ISLAND – Two people were killed when their vehicle was involved in an accident on Long Island Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to a news release from the New York State Police, the crash took place in the town of Babylon in Suffolk County shortly before 10:30 a.m.

State troopers responded to the scene on the Ocean Parkway east of Cedar Beach.  An investigation determined that the driver of a 2013 Custom Assembly convertible was headed east on the parkway when the vehicle went off the roadway and collided with the guide wire.

Two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene.  They were identified as the driver, 58-year-old Daniel Fabrizio, and his passenger, 58-year-old Diane Seghposs.  Both were residents of Smithtown, Long Island.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit and Forensic Identification Unit responded as part of the investigation.

Any witnesses or anyone with further information on the wreck was asked to contact the State Police.
