SOUTH JAMAICA, QUEENS, NY – A woman died after being hit by a stolen truck in Queens Sunday morning, according to the New York Post.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of 167th Street and 120th Avenue in South Jamaica at about 8:30 a.m. Police said a man in a Ford F-550 truck stolen from a construction company was trying to make a U-turn on a dead-end street and started hitting parked cars.
49-year-old Florence Ngwu was among people in the street who were trying to get his attention and stop him. According to investigators, the driver struck a car from behind and pushed it into Ngwu, pinning her between two vehicles.
Ngwu, a mother of four who worked as a nurse at a nursing home, was taken to Jamaica Hospital where she was pronounced dead the following day.
The driver of the truck fled the scene after the accident. The truck, which belonged to Pawar Builders in Elmhurst, was later located about a mile and a half away from the scene at 108th Avenue and 164th Place. The driver is still being sought.
