YORKTOWN, NY – A Yorktown driver has been accused of driving while intoxicated after police responded to reports of a one-car collision Monday night. Officers found Sylvester Salzano, 56, trapped in his vehicle after he struck and knocked over a utility pole. He was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries, and has since been discharged.
An investigation into the incident determined that Salzano refused to take a breath test, had two open containers of alcohol in his vehicle, and was driving recklessly prior to the collision. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, both misdemeanors, as well as several traffic violations, including refusal to take a breath test, open container of alcohol, and speed not reasonable or prudent.
