MANHATTAN, NEW YORK – Police say the driver who struck and seriously injured a man in Manhattan Saturday night is now under arrest, CBS News reports.

22-year-old Tyler Greer of Piscataway, New Jersey surrendered to police in connection with the incident that occurred in the area of Vandam Street and Greenwich Street in Soho at around midnight.

Authorities said Greer was driving a red sedan and doing donuts in the street in front of hundreds of spectators. One of the bystanders, 23-year-old Christopher Brito, was apparently filming the incident and was struck by the vehicle.

Brito was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he has had to undergo multiple surgeries for his various injuries.

Greer allegedly left the scene afterwards and is now facing multiple charges, including reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Anyone with further information about what happened was asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline.
