SOUTH BRONX, NY – An accident in New York City claimed the life of a man riding an electric scooter, according to a report by 1010 WINS.
The crash took place on Saturday morning at the intersection of Grand Concourse and East 149th Street in the South Bronx.
Police said a man was driving a 2016 Honda CRV southbound on Grand Concourse at about 11:15 a.m. when he collided with the e-scooter that was headed west on East 149th Street. The scooter rider, a man believed to be in his 40s, was thrown from the vehicle and fell to the ground.
He was transported NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln with head trauma and was later pronounced dead. The victim’s name was not immediately released.
The 23-year-old driver of the Honda stayed at the scene of the accident. He was then taken to Harlem Hospital with minor injuries and was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the cause of the crash. No arrests have been made in the case.
