BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, NY – The NYPD is investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a driver who left the scene in Brooklyn early Tuesday morning, according to a report by amNewYork.
The incident took place on Pennsylvania Avenue near Linden Boulevard in the East New York section of the borough at about 1 a.m.
Investigators said a 62-year-old woman was crossing Pennsylvania Avenue outside the marked crosswalks when she stumbled and fell to the ground. The woman was struck at that point by a southbound light-colored sedan, and the driver then left the scene.
The pedestrian was found in the roadway by paramedics and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was not immediately released.
A search is now underway for the driver responsible for her death. No description was available yet for the vehicle involved, and no arrests have been made.
