News: Police searching for Rolls-Royce that fled scene after pedestrian fatally struck in Brooklyn

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN, NY – A pedestrian died Tuesday morning after being struck in Brooklyn by a Rolls-Royce that left the scene, reports amNewYork.

The accident occurred in the Greenpoint section of the borough, in the area of McGuiness Boulevard and Bayard Street. Police said the 58-year-old pedestrian was trying to walk eastbound across McGuiness Boulevard when he was hit by the black Rolls-Royce at about 12:45 a.m.  Arriving police officers and paramedics found the man lying in the roadway severely injured. The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead after being transported to Woodhull Hospital.

The driver took off after the crash and has not been located. No description of the vehicle has been released yet.

Investigators believe that the victim was walking in the crosswalk but against the traffic signal at the time he was struck.

The NYPD Highway Patrol’s Collision Investigation Squad is continuing its investigation into the incident, and anyone with information about what happened was urged to call Crime Stoppers.
