COMMACK, LONG ISLAND, NY – A driver was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Long Island Saturday afternoon, according to a report by Newsday.
Suffolk County police said 25-year-old Freddy Roth was driving a Nissan Rogue east on Jericho Turnpike in Commack when the crash occurred at about 2:25 p.m. Roth’s Nissan was hit by a westbound Buick Regal whose driver was trying to make a right turn from Veterans Memorial Highway onto Jericho Turnpike.
The impact caused the Nissan to flip onto its side and hit the back of a GMC pickup truck that was stopped in the eastbound turning lane of Jericho Turnpike. The pickup truck then crashed into the back of a Honda.
Roth, a resident of Brentwood, was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The crash affected traffic in the area for several hours. Anyone with further information about what happened was asked to contact Suffolk County police.
