RICHMOND HILL, QUEENS, NY – A car and a motorcycle were involved in a deadly collision in Queens over the weekend, according to a report in the New York Post.
The accident took place Saturday morning at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard in the Richmond Hill section of the borough.
The NYPD said 31-year-old Francisco Santiago was riding a motorcycle westbound on Atlantic Avenue at about 7:40 a.m. when he disobeyed the right light. The motorcycle collided with a 2016 Subaru Impreza that was making a left turn onto Lefferts Boulevard and Santiago was ejected from the bike.
Santiago, a resident of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was rushed to Jamaica Hospital and was later pronounced dead. Police said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck. No other injuries were reported.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 30-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and was not expected to face any charges.
Santiago’s mother told the Daily News that her son was headed from his job at a sanitation company at the time the accident happened.
