BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, NY – Police have made an arrest in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian in Brooklyn in May, the New York Post reports.
36-year-old Isidro Rodriguez was arrested on multiple charges, including manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving.
The incident took place May 30 in the vicinity of West 1st Street and Avenue P in the Bensonhurst section of the borough.
According to the NYPD, Rodriguez was driving a 2020 Cadillac SUV south on West 1st Street when he collided with a Hyundai Sonata going east on Avenue P. The impact sent the Cadillac into a pedestrian who was walking across West 1st Street.
The pedestrian, 65-year-old Jun Jin Yang of Manhattan, was transported to Maimonides Medical Center and pronounced dead. Investigators said Rodriguez was speeding and had gone through a red light prior to the crash.
Rodriguez and the other driver remained at the scene of the accident. Following his arrest last week, Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to the charges.
