MANHATTAN, NY – The New York Police Department (NYPD) arrested a man on Friday after he lost control of his car and caused a roll-over accident.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on August 14, per the New York Daily News. Witnesses report that the driver was speeding on West 72nd Street on the Upper East Side before the crash. The driver lost control of his white Nissan as he approached Central Park West and the vehicle overturned. The Nissan rolled into a silver SUV that was parked on the street, causing significant damage to the side of the parked car.
The Nissan driver was uninjured in the roll-over accident. The police did not report any injuries to pedestrians or drivers who were near the scene.
A spokesperson with the NYPD stated that the driver attempted to leave the scene after the accident. He ran into Central Park where the police quickly captured him. The driver was arrested and brought into police custody. However, the NYPD has not yet released information about the charges the driver is facing.
