LINDENWOOD, QUEENS, NY – A driver died after his car was involved in a fiery crash in Queens on Sunday morning, according to the Daily News.
Police from the 106th Precinct and first responders were dispatched to the scene on 79th Street near South Conduit Avenue in the Lindenwood section of the borough at about 4 a.m. Witnesses told the NYPD that a man driving a black Infiniti sedan lost control of the car and crashed into a pole, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire. The driver was ejected and was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead several hours later.
The victim was identified as 27-year-old Shaquan Nelson of Fenimore Street in Brooklyn. Sources told the Daily News that Nelson had been driving at high speed and drag racing prior to the crash.
The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the fatal wreck.
