INWOOD, MANHATTAN, NY – A car crash in Manhattan early Wednesday morning led to the deaths of two pedestrians on a sidewalk, the New York Post reported.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Sherman Avenue and West 207th Street in the Inwood section of the borough at about 4 a.m.  Police said the driver of a BMW was traveling north on Sherman Avenue and crashed into a Subaru Forester SUV going south.

The impact caused the Subaru to collide with two parked cars that were unoccupied and then jump onto a sidewalk, where it struck two men.

One of them was pronounced dead after being rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital. He was identified as 31-year-old Joel Adames, who reportedly lived a block away from the crash scene.  The other victim died at Harlem Hospital, and was identified as 40-year-old David Fernandez of the Bronx.

The accident left five other people injured, three seriously.

Both drivers remained at the scene and there was no immediate word of any arrests in the case.
