UPPER WEST SIDE, MANHATTAN, NY – Actress Lisa Banes was hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a scooter Friday night on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, CNN reports.
The incident happened in the area of West 64th Street and Amsterdam Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. Barnes was walking across Amsterdam Avenue when she was hit by a scooter that had gone through a red light. The NYPD said the 65-year-old victim was in the crosswalk with the pedestrian signal giving her the right way at the time she was hit. She was knocked into the roadway and was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where she was being treated in the intensive care unit.
Police said the scooter rider took off headed north after the incident and has not been located.
Banes, who lives in Los Angeles and was making a visit to New York, has had a variety of roles in theater, television and movies, including the films “Cocktail” and “Gone Girl.” Her manager believed the incident happened as she was on her way to to the Lincoln Center Theater and the Juilliard School.
