3 killed in fiery car crash on Long Island’s Northern State Parkway

NORTH HEMPSTEAD, LONG ISLAND, NY – New York State Police released details of a fiery car accident on Long Island early Sunday morning that left three people dead.

According to a news release, the crash took place place on the Northern State Parkway in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County, where troopers were called to the scene at about 5 a.m.

State police said a driver was going east near Exit 30 when the vehicle went off the parkway.   It crashed into multiple trees near the south shoulder of the road and then became engulfed in flames.

The driver and two passengers in the car were all pronounced dead at the scene.  Their identities were being withheld pending the notification of family members. No other injuries were reported in the accident.

An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the wreck, and anyone with further information was asked to contact the New York State Police.
