BRONX, NEW YORK, NY – Police say three people were injured when their cars collided while driving in the Bronx over the weekend, the Daily News reports.
The incident involving two vehicles took place on the Major Deegan Expressway Saturday morning at about 5 a.m. Investigators say the 27-year-old driver of a Honda Civic was driving in the center lane when he moved into the right lane. His car then clipped a Honda Accord that was in the right lane while approaching the exit for East 161st Street.
The driver of the Civic lost control and ended up crashing into barriers on the shoulder of the highway. A 29-year-old man who was a passenger in the Civic was critically injured in the wreck.
Two people in the Accord put the man into their car and transported him to Lincoln Medical Center. The driver of the Civic and a 32-year-old female passenger were hospitalized in stable condition.
Police said the people in both vehicles were friends who had been traveling together when the incident occurred.
The NYPD is continuing to investigate the crash.
