HUNTINGTON, LONG ISLAND, NY – New York State Police say a car accident on Long Island early Sunday morning left two people dead and two others hospitalized.
According to Newsday, the crash occurred on the Northern State Parkway in Huntington at about 1:30 a.m. State police investigators determined that 22-year-old Tomislav Ivkov of Queens was driving an Audi in the westbound lane of the parkway when the vehicle went off the road near Exit 39.
The Audi hit a guardrail and several trees before crashing into a light post, police said. Two passengers in the back seat were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as 26-year-old Husein Radoncic of Queens and 22-year-old Sasha Stopanjac of Liberty, New York.
Ivkov and a passenger in the front seat, 21-year-old Marco Radinovic of Queens, sustained injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening. The two were transported to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators are continuing to look into the cause of the accident. Anyone with information about what happened was asked to contact New York State Police.
