$500,000 Settlement

This second impact together with the first impact caused our client’s left arm to strike the interior surface of his car. He went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with a left hand contusion. He returned to the ER several days later when the contusion worsened and began to swell. He developed a Methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) infection and underwent multiple surgeries.

A lawsuit was commenced charging the owner and operator of the vehicle that struck our client in the rear with Negligence in failing to maintain a safe distance between his car and our client’s car.

After all legal discovery was complete and depositions of the parties had been taken, the case was placed on the trial calendar in Supreme Court, Suffolk County. The case was assigned a trial date and extensive trial preparation was undertaken by our firm.

The action settled before trial for the full insurance policy in the sum of $500,000.
