Common injuries in those accidents include brain and head trauma, spinal injuries, neck injuries and bone fractures.

To receive financial compensation after a crash, injured motorcyclists must provide compelling proof that another party is to blame for their injuries. Let our motorcycle accident attorneys help you fight for the justice and compensation you deserve after a motorcycle crash.

  • Pedestrian icon

Pedestrian Accidents — A pedestrian-vehicle accident can be catastrophic, and many of those accidents prove to be fatal. Too often, pedestrians are struck by a careless or reckless driver who fails to observe traffic signals or yield the right-of-way. On the busy streets of Long Island, the risks of pedestrian accidents are exceptionally high, particularly at street intersections.

  • Slip and fall sign icon

Premises Liability — If you have been hurt due to a danger on someone else’s property, you may be entitled to pursue compensation through a premises liability claim. These types of claims can arise after slip and fall accidents, dog attacks, swimming pool accidents, and attacks that were allowed to happen due to negligent security.

  • Truck icon

Truck Accidents — In a recent study, the New York State Department of Transportation studied 11,000 truck accidents. The DOT determined that more than 80 percent of those accidents were caused by human error. Common causes of truck accidents include inadequate or unrepaired roadways, inclement weather, driver fatigue, blind spots, intoxication, hazardous or overloaded cargo, poor training and faulty vehicle inspections. On Long Island, the Long Island Expressway is especially hazardous.

  • Casket icon

Wrongful Death — Losing a loved one is truly devastating. A death in the family can also bring frightening uncertainty about your financial future. In New York, compensation for a wrongful death case may include the projected earnings of the decedent. Other services he or she performed while alive, such as childcare, are also covered in a wrongful death claim. A compassionate, skilled wrongful death attorney can help you pursue justice and secure compensation for your loss.

Historical Background of Nassau County

Nassau County, with a population of approximately 1.4 million residents, is located just east of Queens County (New York City) and comprises one of the two counties that make up Long Island (the other being Suffolk County). Nassau County has a rich colonial history dating back to the 1600s when Dutch and English settlers established what is now known as the towns of Hempstead and Oyster Bay.

Back then, Long Island was predominately fertile farmland that produced corn, potatoes, and tomatoes. Fast forward to 1898, when the western portion of Long Island had become part of New York City, and Mineola was voted as the County Seat. By the early 1900s, much of the farmland on the North Shore of Nassau County was turned into luxurious mega-mansions for New York’s wealthy and elite, forming Long Island’s “Gold Coast” and the inspiration for F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.

Following WWII, much of Nassau County was developed as suburban housing for post-war GIs. This led to a major boom in population and infrastructure. Today, Nassau County is known for its diversity, excellent public schools, high-end shopping centers, white sand beaches, and close proximity to New York City.

Historical Background of Suffolk County

Suffolk County, having a population of approximately 1.5 million, is located just east of Nassau County and comprises one of the two counties that make up Long Island (the other being Nassau County). Suffolk County was originally part of the Connecticut Colony before it became part of the Province of New York in the late 1600s.

Until the mid-1800s, Suffolk County was primarily known for its farming, shipbuilding, whaling, and fishing, but by the late 1930s, the county became an important player in the Aerospace and Defense industries. After WWII, like Nassau County, Suffolk County underwent a suburban housing development boom. Today, Suffolk County is known for its research universities, including Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Lab, and its farmland and wineries, taking the crown as the largest agricultural county in the State of New York.
